Hunter’s Photo Shoot
Hi Everyone,
I’ve really been slacking on the blogging. There hasn’t been too much news around here but with the weather just starting to change it seems like things are starting to pick up. I’ll make this a fast one. Nick has just started track. Kalee has just started drivers training . . . oh joy. I’m working more than I should. Piper is working harder than she should and still running way too many miles per week. Hunter has been in a really good space lately and nothing but pure fun for probably the last two weeks straight. Every day he both amazes us and makes us laugh out loud. We don’t know what to teach him next. He now knows all 50 states without a problem. Can recognize and name all 44 (?) presidents by their faces and says “Jimmy Caaaartuer” with a southern accent. Lately, he’s been wanting to learn the state flags and can now recognize 11 of them. But, seriously, when do you ever need to know your state flags? Maybe I’ll get him hooked on state capitals or we’ll start math flash cards?
Piper and I took on a little photo project because Hunter just turned two recently. We had a blast doing it! Hunter listened surprisingly well. Here are the results. Prints, without the cheesy logo, to be sent out to grandparents within a few weeks.

Nick Knocks ‘em Dead at Pretty Lake with his Speech
Pretty Lake Vaction Camp called last Sunday and asked Nick to give a speech for their Board of Directors and members of the community that had been invited to a promotional dinner. Nick has been involved with Pretty Lake Camp since he was in sixth grade. He started as a camper, completed their two year Leadership in Training program and just finished up their two year Counselor in Training program. Pretty Lake has existed for almost 100 years now and is funded completely by donations from the community. This summer the camp hosted over 700 campers, leaders in training and counselors in training. The camp choose just two children to speak at the dinner, Nick being one of them. Needless to say, we were pretty excited. Below you’ll see shots of Nick during his speech, with the President of Pretty Lake and the mayor of Kalamazoo.

Casanova’s Weekend
Casanova (Nick) just finished up a whirlwind weekend. Friday he had a homecoming to attend in Paw Paw. He was short on time because he had a football game, then the dance and then finally a bonfire afterwards. Casanova and his date, Kendra, had a great time or so they say. Kendra has a twin sister and happens to be a daughter of one of my co-workers.
Saturday night yet another homecoming dance, in a different town with a different girl. His date, Liza actually used to attend the same daycare with Nick for years. This Homecoming was in Hastings and they had a nice time.
Sunday, he spent the entire day practicing how to dance and be an escort with yet another girl. Yes, you guessed it, this girl is from a different town (Bloomingdale) as well. He will be her escort in the upcoming Miss Bloomingdale pageant.
Piper and Hunter have a 5K walk for breast cancer coming up this Saturday in Kalamazoo. I’ll be out to support them as well.
This is a picture of Casanova and his date from Saturday’s Homecoming.
